Party!

Harari was a soul group from Johannesburg South Africa. They were originally called The Beaters. Party, produced by Michael Stokes was released in 1980. The track became a pretty big club hit in 1982 and soon after, the group broke up with it's members pursuing solo acts. Band leader, Sipho Mabusse went on to put out a cool electro track called Burn Out in 1985 (which I will cover in the future).

Party is a Loft classic that is loaded with feel good party energy.

Have a look at Afrosynth blog for more of this.

The track is excellent, indeed. Unfortunately, the mp3 seems to be faulty. WMP shows its length to be 6:24, but it suddenly breaks off during the fade-out at around 5:45 and couldn't be processed with any of my mp3 editors. I've downloaded it three times, with the result invariably being the same. Pity ...

That sounds like a software issue. Have you tried to stream the track? I did and it plays the entire length. It might not be able to get through Microsoft's white music only filter.

I have been visiting this blog for a couple of years and I never came across the LeBaron edit of Harari's 'Party' track till now....this is just so so perfect with the afro-funk and cosmic disco flavours blended to perfection...when those guitars kick in you know you are in for some kinda special space journey and the Sipho Mabuse vocals are just majestic.

....blows 99% of the edits you have to pay for out of the water!...

You have any more Harari tracks? I found one more called 'Musikana' which is pretty magnificent taken from a 'Fusion Under Apartheid' compilation...very laid back soul/funk jam with Mr Mabuse's tripped out vocals winding in and out to full effect...happy to send it ya if you want...jackamo23ATgmailcom

PS> Plays all the way through for me.
