Infatuation

Infatuation came out on New York's small Silver Cloud Records in 1983. Look out for anything on Silver Cloud, its all boogie gold, and although the label and their number of releases were small they seemed to have enough distribution that their output will now run you between $7 and $70 for the rarer cuts.

This is perhaps their best known release, alongside the highly sought after Heavy Hitter by Barbara Norris that came out on parent label United Performers, which has been turning up on trendy italo/electro disco bootleg comps over the past couple of years. Both tracks share production by Edward Colon, who I believe still had house music credits dating up until the late nineties.

this one was sampled by omar-s on his "just ask the lonely" album a couple years back, i've been looking for an original wax of it since.

i have the "heavy hitter" 12" (got it in b-more in 05 for $2) and karen diggs "congratulations" which is pretty nice too. ive passed on a couple non-descript joints on these labels, but overall theyre always good for a listen!

Yeah, I have this and 'Heavy Hitter' too... they're fantastic. But I don't know what Edward Colon's other productions are like – do you know 'All I Need Is Time' and 'Ain't No Way'?

Richard Sorce and Bruce Kahn also deserve credit, and they worked on 'Congratulations' together which is also great. I'm interested to know if their other Barbara Norris track, 'Strategy', is good too.

This has to be one of my all-time favorite tracks! Do you think that's a sample of "Plastic Doll" or just heavy influence?

Plastic Doll by Dharma? I don't see a connection. Enlighten me. That track will be up on here in the near future.

Jacob's talking about the instrumental remix on the flip.

Up Front didn't sample it, just recreated it, but I think they also improved it.

im really intrigued about the plastic doll "sample".
Its really the same synth arp and clap. do you guys think it was a preset of some synthesizer?
this is so weird. plastic doll was made on 82 and this one on 83.
